SOCO (SOUTH COAST) MAGAZINE

If all the Newport Playhouse shows and cabarets are like this one, it is no wonder The Newport Playhouse and Cabaret Restaurant has been thriving for almost 26 years!

PRIME TIME MAGAZINE

Seniors love The Newport Playhouse! A lavish buffet—nobody goes hungry! A light play dishes out loads of laughs! A cabaret follows the play, with the actors and waiters entertaining with songs, dance, and comedy! A full evening of dining, drinking, and entertainment!

DON FOWLER – THE WARWICK BEACON

Before you enjoy the play, take in the largest and, in our opinion, one of the best buffets in Rhode Island. Matt Siravo has been doing this for years, and he knows how to please his customers.

JAMES KEOGH, PRESIDENT – OLDE NEW ENGLAND TOURS

Yesterday I escorted our group to the Newport Playhouse & Cabaret Restaurant for a thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable afternoon. The buffet meal was delicious with a wide variety of delectable selections. The performance of “No Sex Please, We’re British” was wonderfully humorous and had our passengers in stitches. The delightful cabaret show was excellent.

This was my first experience with the Newport Playhouse, and I know I will be returning with future groups.

JACK JORDAN, PROGRAM CHAIRMAN – THE CAPERS

For the third straight year in a row the Capers are looking forward to returning to the Newport Playhouse for a delicious and plentiful lunch and an afternoon of great entertainment with lots of laughs. You just can’t keep us away!

CAPTAIN VIC’S NEWPORT GUIDE

The Newport Playhouse and Cabaret Restaurant (on Connell Highway—one mile outside of town) is the “best theater/cabaret/buffet combination!”

CHUCK GREGORY – THE SOUTHCOAST TRIBUNE

The dinner theatre! Let me tell you this – The Newport Playhouse and Cabaret Restaurant is the best deal on the island barring no place else.

Forty selections on the buffet line, great calorie laden huge dessert choices, prompt waitstaff, big manly-size plates that you have to lug with a tow motor, and you get clean metal tableware. Wow!!

Did I mention the playhouse? The curtain comes down (actually the stage goes dark) about an hour after the opening scene. Your night has been a memorable one.

Hey, where are you going? Everyone goes back to the dining room where “The Cabaret” hits the lighted and small, but efficient stage. All our very good routines and skits. Our host is Kyle, a talented gentlemen with an impish smile and quick wit. He magically turns on the lights with a swagger and arm gestures and leads the ensemble in music and song.

Is it your birthday? “Well, we have a special song for you.” (There were three birthday people in the room. Guess what their individually offered special song was?)

NORMAN GAUTHEIR (CONTROLLER/MOTOR COACH TOUR DIRECTOR) - FOXY TRAVEL

I look back at how long I waited before starting to book our groups into your incredible establishment, and I “kick myself hard” for waiting so long. Our guests are always excited when checking into the office on the day of the visit—and then when boarding the motor coach when their day at the Playhouse has come to an end.

Thank you once again for making us look so good!

THE CRANSTON HERALD

Attend any production at the Newport Playhouse and Cabaret Restaurant, and you’ll see lots of seniors. Producer Matt Siravo caters to senior groups with special matinees and evening performances for senior group functions, making for a fun afternoon or evening out.

The Red Hat Ladies’ Society of New Bedford/Dartmouth “Cultured Pearl” Chapter of the national organization were in attendance the evening we were there, and they were having a ball. (Anyone in the organization who is under 50 has to wear a pink hat).

Let’s start with the buffet. If you can’t find something you like in the huge selection, then there is no buffet that will please you. It starts with big plates, so large that you may need help carrying them back to your table. In addition to the usual rolls, salads, pasta, vegetables, rice, and potatoes, look for the specialties. The chef makes a delicious hot and spicy roast pork dish that I could have filled up on.

The Sunday Matinee buffet starts at 11:30 a.m., with the doors opening at 11. Again, there is no need to rush, as the play starts at 1 p.m. You leave the restaurant and move to the intimate theatre, where a seat has been reserved for you.

“We always have an abundance of food because we cook more than we need so our customers will always have a plentiful buffet.” According to Siravo. “What is left at the end of the night is donated to the needy, so nothing is wasted. We do not use MSG. Our food tastes good because we use pure olive oil, real butter, herbs, and spices. Add to that the fact that we know how to cook—and presto!—the food tastes great. We buy quality, and we don’t add junk.”

I’ll vouch for that!

THEATRE MIRROR – N.E. LIVE THEATRE GUIDE

Some do dinner theatre well, and the Newport Playhouse does that and more. The tiered seating ensures everyone has a good view. From the moment you enter the cabaret room until the moment you leave—hosts, wait staff, cast, and crew stand poised to pamper you, entertain, and make sure that you have a wonderful time!

NEWPORT THIS WEEK

After dinner, you walk through the lobby to a cozy theatre. When the play is over, your evening is not. It’s back to your table in the dining room that is transferred into a cabaret, and the actors and waiters perform silly songs and local news reports! You will be utterly willing to let these actors, with their superb delivery, send you home feeling jovial, jolly, and all laughed out!

BILL FOX - FOX TOURS

Without a doubt, your shows and cuisine have been one of our very best 2007 tours. What’s most remarkable is the complete satisfaction that our senior citizen groups express when The Newport Playhouse is their destination. Your very funny and well acted shows, your delicious cuisine, and the friendliness and professionalism of your outstanding staff makes The Newport Playhouse my personal favorite. I look forward to working with you again in 2008!

LIFEBEAT

As usual, the buffet at the Newport Playhouse is plentiful and delicious!

PROVIDENCE JOURNAL

Food that would make grandma envious!

WARWICK BEACON

They give you platters the size of serving platters. Very good actors and light comedy! Perfect for a nice evening or afternoon.

NEWPORT THIS WEEK

Food – fun and farce – plentiful is an understatement. The hearty and enormous all-you-can-eat buffet abounds with a large variety of hot and cold goodies. These folks do not skimp. This is a “serious meal”!

WARWICK BEACON

The Newport Playhouse has been running long enough to be considered a Rhode Island institution. They have found the perfect formula: a sumptuous buffet, light comedies, and an after-theatre cabaret. Enjoy one of the largest and one of the best buffets in Rhode Island.

THEATRE MIRROR

The wonderful evening starts off with a sumptuous all-you-can-eat buffet with luscious selections and finishes with a fun-filled cabaret. So, for a wonderful dinner, theater, and cabaret after the play, be sure to go to the Newport Play-house. Congratulations to all on a job well done!

THE BEAT GOES ON

This is the best night out ever! The food is out of this world, the plays are phenomenal, and the cabaret is so very entertaining. Spend one night at the Newport Playhouse, and you’ll be hooked!

SISTERS OF MERCY

We recently came to the Newport Playhouse to celebrate Sister Mary’s 80th birthday. We want to thank you for all you did to make that such a special occasion.

Thank you for the wonderful table we had for our excellent buffet meal, the special birthday cake, and the honorable mention made from the cabaret stage. We had a wonderful time and continue to reminisce about it all.

Thank you again—each and every one of you. May God bless you as you continue to bring joy and laughter to all of your patrons!

THE CAPERS

On behalf of The Capers, we wish to thank you for a most entertaining afternoon. From beginning to end this was one of the very best day trips we have ever had. First of all, you and your staff should be commended for your graciousness in welcoming us to your establishment and also shaking hands with us at the end of the day. It was so nice to get that personal touch. Your wait staff was the epitome of politeness and so attentive to any requests. Your more than generous and varied buffet was simply delicious, not to mention all those yummy desserts.

The play and cabaret were hysterical, and the actors were outstanding. There were so many talented people that it was later remarked on the bus that you should all be on Broadway! We appreciate all the hard work you put into your performances.
Everyone had such a great time that I’m sure we won’t have any trouble filling two busses again. Thanks again!

GREAT FOOD AND FUN AT THE NEWPORT PLAYHOUSE BY DON FOWLER

If you like light entertainment accompanied by one of the best buffets in Rhode Island, head for The Newport Playhouse. This year-round entertainment center features the largest buffet plates in the world and enough food to satisfy even the biggest eaters just on the first trip through the buffet line.

There are buffets…and there are Buffets. The Newport Playhouse has the ultimate Buffet, with more items to choose from than your local supermarket…and it is all prepared hot and scrumptious. The play, always a comedy, is the cherry on top of the sundae. Watching the play is a fun hour and a half and lets your meal digest and prepares you for a lively cabaret back in the dining room.

You’ll remember the producer, Matt Siravo, who has had a full house every time that we have been there. He is celebrating his 24th year in Newport.

PROVIDENCE MONTHLY

The cabaret was terrific! Danged if it wasn’t nice to feel like we were all in it together—waiters, actors, and audience alike.

In this digital age, a homespun sense of community is a rare and valuable commodity. It’s well worth the trip to Newport!

A hot spot for senior citizens—but appealing to all ages. We were licking our forks!

NORMAN GAUTHEIR (CONTROLLER/MOTOR COACH TOUR DIRECTOR) - FOXY TRAVEL

Once again, I applaud your efforts and the efforts of your fine actors for the rare quality and talent that they bring to your stage. And as always, the cabaret show lifted our spirits, and everyone went home feeling that they had spent a truly wonderful day with our dear friends at The Newport Playhouse.

So thank you! We all look forward to many more adventures with you and your wonderful chefs and staff.
